Studies show that Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) are more likely to receive inaccurate diagnoses and insufficient pain management. Additionally, patients report better outcomes with a provider of a similar racial or ethnic background. Yet, only 21 percent of Black patients and 19 percent of Hispanic patients are able to receive care from a provider of a similar background
By addressing biases and racial disparities in healthcare, we can improve outcomes for vulnerable and underserved patients.
